Empowering women scientists in Colorado.

Welcome

We are the Rocky Mountain chapter of Iota Sigma Pi, a national organization dedicated to the advancement of women in chemistry and related fields. Iota Sigma Pi was founded in 1902 and currently has over 46 regional chapters across the United States.

  • Creativity

We promote interest in chemistry among women students.

  • Celebrate

We stimulate personal accomplishment in chemical fields.

  • Community

We foster mutual advancement in academic, business, and social life.

Our Vision

Our goal as a chapter of Iota Sigma Pi is to introduce this society to the women of the Front Range. In doing so, we want to create a space where women in chemistry and related fields can encourage, empower, and celebrate other women as we pursue our careers, as well as in our personal lives.

Mentorship Program

We developing a mentorship program that will build a network of high school, undergraduate, graduate, academic, and industry scientists across Colorado and Wyoming. This support group will foster professional and personal development as the next leading generation of change-makers.

Chapter Events

Our chapter holds monthly Diversity Dialogues and larger networking events throughout the year! Contact us so we can add you to the email list and keep you in the loop.

Meitnerium

Our chapter is named in honor of Austrian physicist Lise Meitner, who was one of the discoverers of nuclear fission. It is currently the only element on the periodic table named after a non-mythological woman, and in taking on her namesake, we hope to pay tribute to Dr. Meitner and continue in the legacy of lifting up and empowering the women of our own chapter, Meitnerium.
